Change Of Key – A Real Musical Adventure

Change of Key is a group of very talented singers and musicians from The Netherlands. Basically a trio, consisting of Marijke de Jong (vocals, keyboard and digital piano) Daniëlle Poot (vocals, rhythm guitar and mandolin) and Joop de Jong (vocals, dobro, guitar, bluesharp, banjo and lapsteel), they often add the talents of Peter Vermeer on vocals, guitar and dobro. For special occasions they will also add percussionist Erik Westra to the on-stage line-up.

Marijke en Joop have been playing since the eighties, both as a duo and as a trio as The Mary Kee Country Company. During a benefit concert for 9/11 in 2001 Joop and Marijke were asked to play a set with Daniëlle. It was obvious then that the three made a dynamic connection and they decided to work together. Until that time Daniëlle performed with backtracks, but she had already felt the need to play music and be part of a band. Thus she took her guitar off the wall and started to practice again. In a really short period of time the members of this trio put together a repertoire with country music, evergreens, originals and covers. Since they all share lead- and harmony vocals, play multiple instruments and have a mixed repertoire a performance of this trio is a real musical adventure!

Next to being great musicians all members are also gifted songwriters. By winter of 2005/2006 they had written a great number of songs, well enough to start recording an album with all original songs. The album, titled “Home Is Where My Heart Is”, recorded in the USA and The Netherlands by producer Doug DeForest, made its debut on September 1st 2007 and has since been leaving its mark all over Europe. The album was well-received in countries like Germany, Switzerland, Belgium and of course The Netherlands.

Change Of Key – A Real Musical Adventure

At the DCMA Awards Gala 2008, on September 14th 2008, “Home Is Where My Heart Is” was awarded as Album Of The Year 2008 by the Dutch Country Music Association, just a year after its release. On the same Awards show Change Of Key received awards for Trio Of The Year as well as Song Of The Year for “Fly On My Emotions”. Next to that, Daniëlle was named Female Vocalist Of The Year and Joop received the honours of Musician Of The Year.

In May of 2009 Change Of Key will travel to Canada to perform in front of an audience of Dutch immigrants. To add exposure in Canada the trio have requested the services of Bold Unicorn Entertainment to put together a more extensive tour so more people will get to experience their musical adventure. No doubt that Change Of Key will leave a big impression in Canada and make audiences and themselves feel at home with their music. After all, they will experience that Home Is Where My Heart Is.

Bold Unicorn Entertainment is the official representative of Change Of Key worldwide, except for The Netherlands, where the band is self-managed.
